CEMENT MASONS ACCEPT APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATIONS
The CEMENT MASONS Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee announces that they will be taking applications for apprenticeship in the Cement Mason's trade throughout the year on the SECOND AND FOURTH TUESDAYS of each month between 9:00 a.m. and 12 Noon at the Construction Employers Association of NC WV; 2611 Fairmont Avenue; Suite B; Fairmont, WV.
The following are minimum requirements. The lack of one will automatically disqualify the applicant. No applicant will be rejected because of race, creed, color, sex or national origin.
1. AGE - Minimum of 17 (copy of birth certificate must be presented at time of application.
2. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. (Copy of GED certificate or diploma must be presented along with copy of transcript of high school grades and, if applicable, vocational, technical school or college grades).
3. Must undergo a pre-employment drug screening.
4. Must be physically capable of performing work of the trade.
5. Applicant must reside in the jurisdiction of the Cement Masons JATC which consists of the following counties in West Virginia (proof of residency required):
WEST VIRGINIA - Barbour, Doddridge, Harrison, Lewis, Marion, Monongalia, Preston, Taylor, Tucker, Upshur and Webster Counties.
6. When more than five percent (5%) of the Registered apprentices are unemployed, there will be no acceptance of new apprentices under this selection process; until the number of employed apprentices has dropped below the five percent (5%) level, then the procedure will follow.
7. The standard term for apprentices shall be 6,000 hours.
Applicants that meet the basic requirements shall be furnished a listing of participating employers so that eligible applicants will be able to solicit employment. Upon being accepted for employment, a letter to the Committee will be furnished by the employer stating that the employer intends to employ the applicant.
